Our education & residential care What young people learn Keeping Me Safe Keeping Me Safe is about learning the skills needed to stay safe in all aspects of life, from crossing roads to developing an awareness of what privacy means. Many of our individualised relationship education programmes are taught under this area. A strong emphasis is placed on the safe use of technology. Within this section, there are five programmes of learning which all help the young people we support understand how to keep themselves safe. These programmes of learning are: Understanding safety Understanding privacy Safe use of technology Sex and relationships Drugs, alcohol and tobacco Mental wellbeing Under each programme of learning there are skills to be learnt. These are selected based on the individual’s level of understanding and what is achievable for them. To support the learning, skill steps are used by the staff team to offer a consistent approach.
