Functional academics

Within this section, there are eight programmes of learning which all help our young people gain key skills in core subjects.

These programmes of learning are listed below. You can learn more about some of these areas by clicking on the words in blue.

  • Numeracy
  • Literacy
  • Creative
  • Computing
  • Science
  • Design and technology
  • Geography / history
  • RE including British Values and respect for a variety of cultures

Under each programme of learning there are  skills to be learnt. These are selected based on the individual’s level of understanding and what is achievable for them. To support the learning, skill steps are used by the staff team to offer a consistent approach.
