Three of our Young Adult Provision homes – The Cottages - are located on our 50-acre site. An off-site residential home, Charlotte House, is based in the nearby village of Hermitage.

All homes are designed to provide a comfortable and homely environment that is also autism-specific and suited to the age and needs of the young adults living there.

All homes have access to the wide range of facilities at the main Prior’s Court site, which includes the purpose-built Learning Centre within The Cottages buildings.

The Cottages

The Cottages, so called as they were built on the site of three cottages at the edge of our site, provide a variety of modern, different housing options:

  • small group homes in Dove and Robin Cottages with accommodation each for six young adults,
  • flats in Bradbury Cottages with accommodation for two young adults in each of the four flats.

This allows each young adult to live within appropriate accommodation according to their needs, preferences and lifestyle choices and provides them with the experience to prepare for future housing choices. A young adult’s age, abilities and compatibility with their peers are also considered when deciding on accommodation.

The houses and flats have been designed to provide an age-appropriate environment which promotes dignity and respect for each individual.

Each young adult has their own comfortable bedroom with en-suite facilities which they are encouraged to personalise.

Communal spaces in each residential house include a lounge, kitchen, dining and laundry area.
