Support us Our appeals Play Equipment Appeal Donate The first phase of bringing brand new play equipment to Prior’s Court has been completed – with further donations needed to empower more young people to reap the incredible benefits of play through getting more apparatus. Accessing and enjoying play is an important part of life for all children, young people, and adults. For autistic young people with complex needs, play is not only important for fun but also for regulation, managing sensory needs and developing fine motor skills. Donate now Play area equipment Our largest outdoor play area for the autistic young people with complex needs we support is in the centre of our 0.6km circular Track. This equipment was installed in 2015 and has been well-loved by all young people at Prior’s Court since. Unfortunately, the equipment has become tired, and some is no longer suitable for use, meaning young people are unable to access and benefit from it. You can play a part in rejuvenating this space and providing young people with a safe and fun area to explore, learn, relax, and enjoy. The new equipment will take into consideration young people’s sensory and developmental needs and will include items such as bird nest swings, climbing frames and balance beams. Donate now What has been done so far? The project is engineered to be installed phase-by-phase, so young people benefit from new equipment more quickly. So far in phase one, a gravity bowl, a playframe, a snake swing and a roundabout, which can be accessed while in a wheelchair, have been installed. There is also a new pathway that has joined the equipment to the main path at the Track to make access easy, particularly in poor weather and for those with mobility difficulties. But with your generous support, further phases will mean more equipment can be added, expanding the range of activities available and helping to promote physical movement, confidence and enjoyment through play for more young people at Prior’s Court.
