A Prior’s Court young adult is now one of the first faces guests might see when they arrive on-site.

Young adult James has a weekly work placement on our Reception on Thursday mornings.

James’s tasks on Reception include:

• Distributing post
• Signing-in visitors
• Handling internal calls

After a settling-in period in Term 2 – in the run-up to Christmas – James is thriving in his weekly work placement with the support of our Head Receptionist Karen Head.

Nickie Dunphy, our Careers Lead, said: “Work experience and work placements are a huge part of our approach to vocational learning, and these offerings start on-site with our back-office staffing teams encouraged to support real world work opportunities.

“James is doing a great job on Reception so far, learning new skills and generalising those he has picked up previously in his time at Prior’s Court.

“James may or may not have a future career at a Reception desk, but it is also the young people at Prior’s Court who are at the centre of what we do and having James in a public-facing role supports this.”
