Prior's Court staff have delivered our first 3-Day Structured Teaching course to external delegates since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The course, based on the TEACCH Model, will enable internal and external delegates to share and implement crucial knowledge which will help deliver the best possible education for young people with autism and complex needs.

A mix of Prior's Court staff and external delegates from special schools and related organisations spent three days from Monday, 30 October learning Structured Teaching methods such as Schedules, Work/Activity Systems and 'Total Communication'. This course will enable them to make tangible, individualised changes to their students' education, helping to reduce anxiety and deliver the best possible outcomes.

"We couldn't have asked for a more engaged group of trainees. We were blown away with how receptive they were to the Structured Teaching principles, and we have no doubt they'll be able to bring this knowledge back to their own classrooms and organisations."

Sue Piper, TEACCH Advanced Consultant and Director of Young People's Learning at Prior's Court

The 3-Day Structured Teaching course was delivered by our very own TEACCH Advanced Consultants, as well as other trainers from our on-site Therapy teams and our partnered schools.

Prior's Court has a unique relationship with TEACCH. It is at the very heart of our approach and we have strong links with the University of North Carolina where TEACCH originated. We are the only organisation outside the United States to offer the Beyond the Basics advanced TEACCH training course.
