In the summer of 2022, after five years in Summer House and eight years in Prior's Court School, Jamie was due to transition to Prior's Court's Young Adult Provision (YAP).

The YAP is for 19 to 25-year-olds and is designed to provide a transitional step towards a more inclusive life - developing further skills in independent living, communication, leisure activities and vocational opportunities - before leaving Prior's Court entirely.

While based on the same site as the School, life at the Young Adult Provision is different to the School, not least of all living in a different home and so leaving key staff members behind.

Jamie had previously shown anxiety about moving to the Young Adult Provision - expressing thoughts that becoming a “grown man” meant having to move to London, like characters he had seen on TV and on YouTube videos - and there was uncertainty how he would manage receiving the news.
