Young adults Rowan and Jessica were supported to go on a four-night stay in Devon.

Holidays are an important part of life in our Young Adult Provision with plenty of planning going into making these occasions happen. It is important to give the young adults these opportunities to access places beyond day-trip distance away, to build more confidence when out in the community.

This is a round-up of the holiday by Dove Cottage Team Manager Lynette:

"On Monday 29 April, two young adults from Dove Cottage Rowan and Jessica, set off for a holiday at the Lazy Sheep Barn near Dulverton in Devon, with accompanying staff Lynette, Sarah, Mamata and Andre.

"The drive to our self- catering accommodation was uneventful and both young adults were intrigued by the accommodation as there were two staircases leading to the bedrooms. Rowan immediately found a secret door leading to staff's bedroom. Needless to say, staff needed to move some furniture around to block the escape route!

"The Lazy Sheep Barn is set on a working sheep farm and it was nice in the mornings to hear the lambs and sheep and the views were gorgeous.

"Tuesday morning was dull and raining and everyone had a lay-in with a brunch for breakfast. When later there was a break in the weather, everyone took to the hills for a nice walk admiring the lambs.

"Wednesday was the best day weatherwise and it was spent on Putsborough Beach, Woolacombe. After the day at the beach, it was time for the hot tub. The fresh air however, must have impacted on Jess and Rowan as both kept staff awake until 4am in the morning with Jess singing and giggling in her room and Rowan reciting every book he has ever read and visiting staff's bedrooms!

"In the early hours of Thursday morning, it again started chucking down with rain and it continued throughout the rest of the day. We ignored the rain and visited Lynton and Lynmouch Cliff Railway which the young adults found exciting. After refreshments at the cafe, it was back to the barn.

"Friday morning we left Lazy Sheep Barn. It was an amazing relaxing week for both young adults and staff. Long may young adult holidays continue!

Sharon, Rowan's mum, had this to say: "A huge thank you to Sarah, Lynette, Mamata and Andre for making Rowan's holiday such a special one.

"This means so much to us as it is helping him to access amazing opportunities and build wonderful lifelong memories. Thank you so much for all the hard work that goes into making this happen, we really are truly grateful for all that you all do, you are an amazing team."
