For National Numeracy Day on Wednesday, 22 May, young people in our Lower School mixed numeracy learning with arts and crafts - and created something which can be used in future lessons.

The young people in the five Lower School classes were supported to make sensory number boards using a variety of craft materials.

The sensory number boards will be used in classes to support future Numeracy sessions - so a great activity to get involved with today, and equipment that can be used going forward too.

Visual instructions were used to guide young people in the activity:

This was also a learning opportunity to explore extended core vocabulary around different colours:

And also to practice choice-making around what materials the young wanted to use on their board:

Natasha, our Learning Specialist for Numeracy, said: "It has been wonderful to see the young people in Lower School engaging in the activity and being creative."
