We are looking for a Financial Controller to deliver accurate and timely reporting of the financial transactions to management and statutory accounts level of Prior’s Court Foundation and Prior’s Court Services Ltd.

  • Substantial experience of management accountancy, financial processing, budgeting and reporting (minimum 5 years).
  • Proven organisational skills with an ability to prioritise, manage and complete a variety of tasks at times in periods of high pressure
  • Experience with a range of management accountancy software packages and proven implementation of finance system improvements to drive efficiency
  • Experience of managing staff to deliver outcomes and develop skills.

Job description

The role of Financial Controller


  • Produce monthly managements account and commentary for budget holders and trustees.
  • Ensure accurate accounts are kept and manage a team of two: a Junior Accountant and a Finance Apprentice who will carry out the day-to-day transactions within the Finance team:
    • Raising and processing fee invoices and credit notes;
    • Debtor management /collecting cash;
    • Processing of supplier invoices, reviewing coding, authorisations and purchase orders;
    • Supporting Services Ledgers; 
    • Management of petty cash allocations to all 16 young people’s care homes;
    • Monitoring expenditure on credit cards
    • Bank Reconciliations
  • Manage the completion of the annual audit, prepare all schedules and notes for the annual statutory accounts;
  • Supporting the Head of Finance and budget holders in the annual budgeting and planning processes taking the lead on budget preparation and budget holder review;
  • Review and run modelling tools to support the organisation's future strategic planning and operational review
  • Complete quarterly VAT returns – including partial exemption;
  • Review financial systems and processes to deliver financial operational efficiency in processing;
  • Operating bank accounts – income, payments and reconciliation;
  • Ensuring financial controls and processes in place are complied with;
  • Completing monthly returns for the Office of National Statistics;
  • Adhoc analysis as required by the Director of Finance;
  • Any other tasks as directed to meet the requirements of the role and to always operate in a style that is consistent with the values and vision of Prior’s Court.
