Careers A rewarding career path What enthuses me is the progression all our young people have made. Our staff are vital to the progress and happiness of our young people. So we offer support, right from day one, to help you develop your career in the direction you want. All our staff receive a comprehensive five day induction which introduces you to autism, our specialist approach, your team, our safeguarding policies, and the environment you’ll be working in. For Autism Practitioners, Teachers and therapy roles, you’ll have the opportunity to become an expert in supporting young people with severe autism with our autism specific training. It’s world-renowned and taught in collaboration with TEACCH professionals from the University of South Carolina. We have regular autism specific training courses throughout the year and as a staff member you can attend for free. We also provide a lot of support to help our trainee Autism Practitioners to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, which is now a requirement for anyone working directly with young people. Having completed this Diploma means you’ll be eligible for a significant increase in salary. Many of our Autism Practitioners go on to develop their careers in more senior roles. In fact, a lot of the senior management team began their careers as Autism Practitioners. And if you choose to develop your career by moving on from Prior's Court then you’ll take with you the specialist knowledge, qualifications and experience you will have learnt in your role with us. I’ve been at Prior’s Court for 13 and a half years, initially as a Support Worker. I had previously worked with adults with learning disabilities, but wanted to work with young people to help promote their independence and improve their lives. I’ve had the privilege of seeing many of the young people here develop and grow in confidence and I would definitely recommend Prior’s Court as a really fulfilling place to work. Home Manager at Prior's Court For those working behind the scenes, there are plenty of opportunities to enhance your knowledge and career prospects with specialist training. Whatever your role, you can enjoy a varied and fulfilling career at Prior's Court, and most importantly you can make a difference to young people with severe autism.
