Physical exercise is a vital part of our 'waking day' curriculum and is individualised for each student to ensure they can work towards achievable personal health goals, improve fine and gross motor skills as part of their Occupational Therapy programme or as a means to manage anxieties.

This week we welcomed Rugbytots Ltd, an organisation providing a world-renowned rugby play programme, to give students a rugby taster session. There was a carousel of activities to try, adapted to support the specific needs of each young person, including: how to hold a rugby ball, how to score a try, throwing a ball through a hoop and picking up cones with their feet.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the day and if the decision is made that Rugbytots will be a regular feature in the sports curriculum then the game can be adapted and individualised further using schedules to help students understand each exercise.
