The Cottages provide a supportive living and learning environment to develop essential life and vocational skills, empowering young adults with autism to lead a fulfilling and purposeful life within the community.

Through the Prior Approach each young adult develops a person centred plan which reflects their needs, skills and interests.  Each individual is supported in a wide range of areas including self care, daily living, vocational, leisure, communication, choice-making and managing their own behaviour.  Emphasis is placed on developing each individual’s ability to participate within the local community providing a transitional step towards a more inclusive life.

The site has been carefully designed to reflect the special needs of young adults with autism with a strong emphasis on creating a calm, structured environment able to support individuals to develop their skills in real life settings. The Young Adult provision currently offers two converted Cottages, each with living accommodation for 6 young adults. The final phase, opening in September, will include a mix of small group housing and flats. There is a Lifelong Learning Centre, a horticultural area, a recreation area and access to the 50 acre Prior's Court site with woodlands, small farm and stables for animal husbandry, kitchen garden and greenhouse and other facilities.
