 World Autism Awareness Day

World Autism Awareness Day Prior's Court School

On World Autism Awareness Day, Prior's Court School is joining nineteen autism organisations across the UK to 'Stand up for autism', urging government to recognise autism spectrum disorders as distinct from other conditions, deserving urgent strategic planning, policy development and dedicated resources.

World Autism Awareness Day has been chosen as the ideal day to launch a DVD supporting students with autism in mainstream schools. This is the result of an eighteen month collaborative project between West Berkshire Education Service, Prior's Court School, the Castle School and the National Autistic Society.  Funded by Breenham Common Trust, the DVD and training material has been given, free, to all secondary and primary schools in West Berkshire.  The aim is to highlight some of the difficulties experienced by students with autism in secondary schools and to offer a range of solutions to enable all staff to provide the most appropriate support.
